The Regional Directorate for Fisheries (DRP) is the Azores government body that works to ensure the sustainable development of the fisheries, protect the marine environment and support responsible fishing practices.

The DRP also pays special attention to coastal communities, guaranteeing their training, improving working conditions, valuing and improving of fish quality, promoting wealth and the development of coastal zones.

DRP is involved in collaborative co-management schemes for coastal fisheries, providing guidance and support to village level endeavors to conserve and manage the marine resources.
